The skill of the installer is more important than the brand of film. A bad install of great film looks terrible and fails quickly. A great install of average film can last years. Here is your checklist when vetting Calgary shops.

The Right Answer: "Yes, wherever possible, we wrap the film around the back of the panel (hood, fenders, doors) so there is no visible seam."

The Wrong Answer: "We use standard kits." (This means the film stops 1/8th inch from the edge, creating a visible line that collects dirt and wax).

Visit the shop. Is it clean?

• Clean Room: The installation bay should be separate from the wash bay and dirty prep areas. Good shops have sealed floors and bright LED lighting.
• Dusty Garage: If you see dust floating in the air or dirty floors, that dirt will end up under your film as permanent bubbles.
