Understanding
Your Options

Choosing between Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Ceramic Coating is one of the most common questions we get at our Calgary shop. The truth? They serve completely different purposes, and many vehicle owners actually benefit from both. PPF is a physical, transparent film that absorbs impacts from rocks, gravel, and road debris. Think of it as armor for your paint — it's thick (8.5-10mil), self-healing, and designed to prevent chips and scratches. This is your best defense against Calgary's gravel roads, highway debris, and winter sandblasting. Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your paint, creating a hydrophobic, glossy layer. It doesn't prevent rock chips, but it makes your car incredibly easy to clean, protects against UV fading, chemical stains, and provides that deep, wet-looking gloss. It's like a permanent wax that actually works. Here's the bottom line: If you drive on Deerfoot Trail, Highway 2, or any gravel roads regularly, PPF is essential. If you want easier washing, better shine, and UV protection, ceramic coating is perfect. For the ultimate protection, combine both — PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating over the entire vehicle.

Technical
FAQ.

Frequently asked questions regarding specifications, installation protocols, and lifecycle maintenance.

01Can I get both PPF and ceramic coating?

Absolutely! This is actually our most popular combination. We install PPF on high-impact areas (front end, mirrors, rocker panels) and then apply ceramic coating over the entire vehicle — including over the PPF. You get the best of both worlds: impact protection where you need it and easy maintenance everywhere.

02Which one should I get first?

If you can only choose one, ask yourself: Do I drive on gravel roads or highways daily? If yes, get PPF first. If you mostly drive in the city and want easier washing and better shine, start with ceramic coating. Many clients add the second service within 6-12 months.

03Does ceramic coating prevent rock chips?

No. Ceramic coating is incredibly thin (measured in microns) and bonds to the surface of your paint. It cannot absorb impacts from rocks or gravel. Only PPF provides physical impact protection. This is the #1 misconception we clear up for clients.

04Can ceramic coating be applied over PPF?

Yes, and we highly recommend it. Ceramic coating over PPF makes the film even easier to clean, adds extra UV protection, and enhances the gloss. It also helps prevent staining on the PPF from things like bird droppings or bug splatter.

05Which is better for Calgary winters?

For Calgary's harsh winters with gravel roads and salt, PPF is the better investment. The film takes the beating from winter debris so your paint doesn't. However, ceramic coating makes washing off road salt much easier. Again, the combination is ideal for Calgary.

Incredible quality. The film is invisible and the edges are wrapped perfectly. Already saved me from two rock chips on Deerfoot. Worth every penny.

Dropped off my Tesla and picked it up looking better than the day I bought it. The ceramic coating beads water like nothing I have ever seen. These guys are artists.

Did the tint and undercoating before my first Calgary winter. Cab stays cool in summer, warm in winter, and zero rust after 2 seasons of Stoney Trail salt.

Professional from start to finish. No bubbles, no peeling, perfectly legal tint. My kids are actually comfortable in the back seat now during summer.
